INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — “Camino de Santiago, with Guy Thatcher” is the title of the first program of the 2015 travel series to be presented by the Friends of the North Indian River County Library on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, from 3 to 4 p.m.
Travel films will be shown at 3 p.m. every second, third, fourth and fifth Thursday through March 26th. Admission is free and open to the public.
Join Guy Thatcher as he shares his experiences walking the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route in northern Spain. Also known as “the Way of St. James” this 800 kilometer route was walked by St. Francis of Assisi, Charlemagne and more recently by Pope John 23rd.
Over 100,000 people annually make the pilgrimage from St. Jean Pied de Port to Santiago de Compostela, where St. James is reputedly buried.
