Vero Beach Police investigating a hit-and-run

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department is searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run that happened Jan. 5, around 2 p.m.

The crash involved a pedestrian on a bicycle, and happened at the intersection of 20th Avenue and State Road 60, according to police. The vehicle involved in the crash was described as a late model, dark blue, four dour Lincoln, with a chrome grill, and a Florida plate.

The driver was described as an elderly white male, clean shaven, with grey hair, and wearing glasses, according to the release. The driver at fault left the scene in an unknown direction before authorities arrived.

The pedestrian is a 36-year-old male, who was traveling southbound in a crosswalk on his bicycle, according to police. The vehicle struck the bicyclist, causing damage to the front tire and bending one of the pedals. As the result of this collision, the vehicle may have sustained front end, as well as hood damage. The pedestrian suffered injuries to his arm, both legs, and possibly chest area.
