Jerrain Vantuyl, Vero Beach

Jerrain “Jerry” Vantuyl, of Vero Beach, passed away on Jan. 3, 2015.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia; their three children Julia Dower (Edward), Laura Arsenault (Charles), Robert (Erin); and nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister and a young grandson.

He was born in Kankakee, Ill. He attended Michigan State University and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Vantuyl began his retail career with J. L. Hudson Company in Detroit, Mich. He retired from his career in 1987 with the closing of Goodnow Pearson Company in Gardner, Mass.

While living in Massachusetts he was a Trustee of Forbush Memorial Library, a Trustee for 23 years of Heywood Memorial Hospital, a Trustee for five years of Mount Wachusett Community College and a Rotarian. He was a member of Vero Beach Country Club
