Edward Hamilton Boyd, Jr., 94, of Vero Beach, died peacefully in his home.
He is survived by his wife, Pringle, and his children George H. Boyd, Anne B. Strapp, William B. Boyd, Monica S. Boyd. and his stepson Alfred Hicks.
He is predeceased by Edward H. Boyd III, Robert T. Boyd, and Vaughn Lee Hicks.
Boyd was born in Sharon, Penn., and moved to St. Michaels, Md., in the early 1940s, where he raised his family at Rollyston Farm. He was actively involved in farming, and also owned Crockett Bros. Boatyard in Oxford in the 1960s. His interests included hunting, fishing, boating, hydroplane racing (founder of the Miles River Power Squadron) and he was extensively involved in big game hunting in Africa, India, and Alaska.
He and his wife Pringle lived in Maryland, Colorado and Florida for many years before moving permanently to Florida 10 years ago. He was a past member of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club, Talbot Country Club, Miles River Yacht Club, Shikar Safari Club, Oak Harbor Club and Ocean Reef Club and was actively involved in community support, leading the Capital Campaign for Memorial Hospital in Easton in the 1960s.
A private family service will be held in Wye Mills, Md., at a later date.
