INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a teacher accused of exposing himself to a student.

Wednesday, detectives with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for the arrest of Alfredo Leon Jr., 60, of Vero Beach, according to a press release. He is currently being held without bond.

On Nov. 12, a student at Dodgertown Elementary told his or her parent that music teacher Alfredo Leon Jr. exposed his genitals in his office while other students were watching a movie in the classroom, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The student said Leon described his genitals as “peanuts,” and then told the student that he or she is “prettier than the other students.”

Other students in the class corroborated the student’s statements that the victim and Leon were alone together in his office, according to authorities. Leon was interviewed by Sheriff’s Office detectives several times since the incident and has been on administrative reassignment from his classroom away from students.

Leon has partially corroborated the student’s statements, however he has denied intentionally exposing himself, according to authorities.

“Today, Detective Shepherd continued our fight against people who intend to harm the children of this community,” said Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar. “We will aggressively seek out and arrest those who abuse kids.”
