John E. Bowen, 69, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 21, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Mary; two sons Joseph of Merritt Island, Fla., and Michael of Chicago, Ill.; brothers Frank Bowen of Yonkers, N.Y., Kenneth Bowen of Slate Hill, N.Y., Vincent Bowen of Prescott, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Kathleen McGrath and Chloe Bowen and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Cecil Bowen, sister Viola Fraad, and mother Josephine M Bowen.
Bowen was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. where he resided for 32 years. He graduated from All Hollows Catholic High School, Bronx, N.Y. where he graduated with honors. After graduation, he joined Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City while attending St. Johns University.
He held various management positions with Chase in New York City as well as in Binghamton, N.Y. He then managed Chase’s Treasury Operations Center in Syracuse, N.Y. where he retired as Vice- President in 2006 after 44 years of loyal and dedicated service.
Bowen was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville, N.Y. as well as the surrounding community in volunteer activities such as Cub Scouts, Salvation Army and the Rescue Mission in both Manlius, N.Y. and Vero Beach. He enjoyed time with his family and friends, fishing, gardening, analyzing the stock market, and spending time in the warmth and sunshine of Vero Beach. He always had a sense of humor and would bring a smile and laughter to all that were around him. Bowen was loving and devoted to his family and loyal to his friends.
Calling hours will be held at Eaton-Tubbs Fayetteville Chapel located at 7191 East Genesee St. Fayetteville, N.Y. on Sunday, Dec. 28, from 3-7 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 29, from 3-7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs St, Fayetteville, N.Y. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Fayetteville.
