UPDATE: Victim ID’d in fatal crash, alcohol involved

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Florida Highway Patrol have released the identities of the people involved in Saturday night’s fatal crash.

Stacey Williams, 50, of Lakeland, was identified at the woman killed in the crash that was driving the 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis, according to FHP. Jonathan Brewer, 35, of Vero Beach, was driving the 2005 Toyota 4Runner that was heading the wrong-way. Brewer is listed in critical condition. Both were wearing their seat belts.

Alcohol was a factor in the crash in Brewers case, but the results are pending for Williams, according to the report.

The investigation is ongoing. 


INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Florida Highway Patrol has released more information in the wrong-way head-on collision that killed one.

The crash involved a 50-year-old woman, that died at the scene, and a 35-year-old man, according to FHP. Their identities have not yet been released pending next of kin notification.

The male driver was behind the wheel of a 2005 Toyota 4Runner and was said to be the one driving eastbound in the westbound lane, according to FHP. The woman was driving a 2010 Mercury Grand Marquis. The male driver is currently at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and has serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A fatal crash closed down State Road 60 westbound, west of the Vero Beach Outlet Mall Saturday night around 8:30 p.m., according to authorities. 

The crash involved an SUV and a car in a head on collision, one vehicle was going to the wrong-way, according to Indian River County Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers.

One person was reported dead at the scene, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. Another person was transported by air to a local trauma center. That person had to be extricated from the vehicle. 

Traffic was shut down just west of 102nd Avenue, two miles west of Interstate 95. The roadway will be shutdown for a few hours while the crash is investigated.
