INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Two people have been arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine out of a residence they share in the 1800th block of 49th Avenue in Vero Beach, the Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Krystal Michelle Adkins, 32, and her boyfriend, Richard J. Camacho, 40, are each being held in lieu of $70,000 bond and are facing identical charges of felony manufacture methamphetamine, possession methamphetamine, and misdemeanor possession drug paraphernalia.
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, detectives with the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Criminal Enforcement (M.A.C.E.) Unit along with members of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (D.E.A.) Clandestine Laboratory Team executed a search warrant at the couple’s Indian River County residence.
Authorities recovered hundreds of used syringes, several bottles used to manufacture methamphetamine, one gram of finished methamphetamine product, and other miscellaneous items used to manufacture methamphetamine, according to an official release form the Sheriff’s Office.
“People continue to think of methamphetamine labs as being a complicated laboratory setup,” ” said M.A.C.E. Detective Sergeant Anthony Civita in the release. “Unfortunately, with current methamphetamine manufacturing techniques, we continue to see common household products like plastic soda bottles used as vessels for manufacturing. We are always concerned that children may think these products are safe to handle or drink from. If you ever find an expanded plastic bottle and have suspicions of drug use, do not touch it and call law enforcement to evaluate.”
According to the arrest affidavit, Camacho told authorities that he manufactured methamphetamine and his girlfriend, Adkins, sold it for him.
