Bette Houck, 96, of Vero Beach, passed away on Dec. 14, 2014, at her grandson’s home in Hobe Sound.
She is survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her son, James, preceded her in death in 1970 and her husband, Philip in 2006.
Houck was born in Eldorado, Kan. She spent most of her early years in towns and cities in Oklahoma.
She graduated from Bristow High School in 1935 and finished at Tulsa Business College. She was employed as a Secretary with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Ethel Corp, Carter Oil Company and the Navy Underwater Sound Laboratory. Later she worked with Mr. Houck in their business. The became Florida residents in 1945.
She was a member of Christ by the Sea Methodist Church.
Friends may call on Thursday, Dec. 18, from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service following at 12 p.m. in the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel, burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
