Roberta Austin, 87, of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 21, 2014, at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida.
She is survived by her daughter Rdell Austin Hudgins, of Palm City, Fla.; sons Robert Austin of Vero Beach and Jeffrey Austin of Fort Pierce; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George W. Austin, Jr., in 2005.
Austin was born in Trenton, N.J., and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 38 years coming from Oakland, N.J. She had a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Connecticut and a Master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. She was a kindergarten teacher, a devoted wife and mother, and a loyal friend to many. She will be remembered for her kind and loving nature.
Arrangements are being handled by Aycock Funeral Home in Stuart. There will be no service at this time, but a celebration of life gathering will be planned in the near future.
