FELLSMERE — A woman was arrested in the early morning of Thursday in Fellsmere after police say she armed herself with a knife and chased a man around a house on N. Orange Street.
According to the arrest report, Sarina August, 45, of 150 N. Orange St., attacked a man, beating him in the face, breaking his glasses, and tearing his shirt.
A motive for the attack was not given and the relationship between August and the victim was not listed in the report.
Fellsmere Police and the Sheriff’s Office responded to the home when the victim called 9-1-1 as he was being chased. The victim made his way outside and was visibly shaking and bleeding from his lip, the report states.
While authorities interviewed the victim, August came outside and began yelling and cursing at the officers, according to the report. The officers ordered August to the ground but when she refused, they physically restrained her.
During the disturbance, the report states, August and the victim got into a verbal argument during which August ordered the victim to his room. The victim’s age was not revealed in the report.
Shortly thereafter, August then provoked another argument and ordered the victim to leave the home. When the victim attempted to leave, August flipped over the kitchen table and knocked over chairs, giving chase. She then grabbed a kitchen knife and told the victim: “You ain’t going anywhere,” according to the report.
August threw a lamp at the victim, which missed the target, the report states. However, in his attempt to flee, the victim slipped and fell to the floor. August was then able to catch the victim and struck him several times in the face with a closed fist, still holding the knife in her other hand, according to the report.
The victim was eventually able to get away from August and call 9-1-1, though the woman continued to chase him.
August faces a felony charge of aggravated assault and two misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal mischief. She is currently being held at the county jail in lieu of $3,500 bail.
