Atlantic Classical Orchestra celebrates 25th anniversary Dec. 10

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Atlantic Classical Orchestra (ACO) will present its third annual Benefit Concert, “A 25th Anniversary Celebration,” on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 4:30 p.m. at Orchid Island Beach Club in Vero Beach.

The benefit concert features award-winning pianist Lindsay Garritson and ACO principal cellist Ashley Garritson performing three richly diverse works from the Romantic age: Popper’s Hungarian Rhapsody, Chopin’s Polonaise for piano and a sonata for cello and piano by Cesar Franck.

A cocktail reception to meet the artists will follow the performance.

Hosted by The Vero Friends of the ACO, the 25th Anniversary Celebration will kick-off the Orchestra’s 25th Concert Season in Vero Beach. Founded in 1990 by conductor laureate Andrew McMullan, the ACO baton was passed in 2004 to Grammy-nominated Maestro Stewart Robertson, who now leads the Orchestra with performances in three venues: the Waxlax Center in Vero Beach, the Lyric Theatre in Stuart, and the Eissey Campus Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens.

“The Vero Friends of the ACO are thrilled to have Lindsay Garritson and Ashley Garritson join us for this special performance to begin the ACO’s 25th Anniversary Season,” said Jean Beckert, president of The Vero Friends of the ACO and chair of the 25th Anniversary History Committee. “In addition to a lively program that will demonstrate the virtuosity and musical maturity of our guest artists, the evening’s festivities will include several tributes and a “walk down memory lane” highlighting some of the past 25 years’ fondest memories.”

Wilmington Trust, the Vero 25th Anniversary Sponsor for the 2015 Season, is joined by the event’s Gold Sponsor Mr. and Mrs. John Beckert and Silver Sponsor Mr. and Mrs. Ed Prein. Underwriters include Mr. and Mrs. Scott Bayman; Mr. and Mrs. Sydelle Blatt; Mr. Richard Chadwell and Ms. Wanda Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Garr; Mr. and Mrs. James Henderson; Ms. Barbara Malcolm; Ms. Margaret Malone; Mr. and Mrs. Chad Morrison; Reilly, Rolando & Tompkins – Merrill Lynch Wealth Management; Ms. Regine Rohde; Mrs. George A.
