Vero Beach Museum of Art hosts holiday bash Dec. 7

VERO BEACH — The Friends of the Vero Beach Museum of Art and the Museum’s Education Department, once again present “Holidays at the Museum” on Sunday, Dec. 7. This free one-day-only annual holiday celebration for youth and families begins at 1 p.m. and continues through 4 p.m.

Guests are invited to enjoy free refreshments in the Museum’s Holmén Hall, hands-on activities in the Museum Art School, and free entertainment in the Museum’s Leonhardt Auditorium.

Performers include the Indian River Charter High School Jazz and Dance Ensembles; Treasure Coast Elementary Chorus; Beachland Elementary Little Shark Singers; Osceola Magnet Singers; Roseland Magnet Chorus; and Santa Claus, who will arrive at 2 p.m. to hear the dreams and wishes of girls and boys in the Museum’s Laura and Bill Buck Atrium.

The Museum Art School offers a free all-day hands-on activity titled The Amazing Angel Art Ornament. A special edition of the Museum’s Artful Storytime for preschool age children featuring the book Angels by Alexis York Lumbard will be held.

Visitors will also enjoy free admission to current museum exhibitions; Restoring the Spirit: Celebrating Haitian Art; Carol Brown Goldberg: Recent Works; Kinetic Sculpture: the Poetics of Movement; Selections from the Permanent Collection in the Stark Gallery and Alice and Jim Beckwith Sculpture Parks; and the Indian River Photo Club Juried Exhibition in the Hazel Education Wing.

The museum store will be open all day for guests who enjoy unique gifts and stocking stuffers for their friends and family. Co-chairs for the event are Jacqueline Farrell and Susan Smith.

The Vero Beach Museum of Art is located at 3001 Riverside Park Drive, in Riverside Park, Vero Beach. From I-95 or U.S. 1, take (Exit 147) State Road 60 east towards the beach, cross over the Merrill Barber bridge and turn right at the first traffic light into Riverside Park.
