Helen Ryun, 97, Sebastian

Helen Ryun, 97, of Sebastian, passed away on Nov. 26, 2014.

She is survived by her three children Sharon Williams of Margate, Fla., Robert Laxy, of Moline, Ill., Deborah Marshall, of Wilmington, Mass.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Eugene Ryun; her first husband, Harold Laxy; and her three brothers, Harry Evans, Jim Evans and Dick Evans.

Ryun was born in Silvis, Ill., and had been a resident of Sebastian for 34 years coming from Coal Valley, Ill.

Following World War II, she volunteered at Iowa City VA Hospital helping the War veterans. She had also worked as a dark room technician at Illini Hospital for three years in Silvis, Ill. She was a member of B# Square Dance Campers Club. She enjoyed traveling and RV-ing and was a collector of antique glass.

Ryun was of the Baptist faith.

A Visitation will be held 12 to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, with a Service at 1 p.m. at Aycock Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce.
