Robert C. ‘RC’ Timmons, 71, Vero Beach

Robert C. “RC” Timmons, 71, of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 21, 2014, at VNA Hospice House.

He is survived by his daughters Carolyn Suzanne McCandlish and Kathryn Butterfield Timmons; his brother William Timmons; three grandchildren, Maia McCandlish, Corinne McCandlish and Liam McCandlish; and close friends, Carolyn and Toby Robinson.

He was predeceased by his brother Edward Timmons.

He was born in Washington, D.C., to Mabel Anthony and Arthur Timmons.

Timmons enlisted in the United States Army in January of 1965 and proudly served in Germany as crew chief. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Aircraft Crewman Badge, to name a few.

He worked for the Fairfax County Fire Department from 1969-1990, as a Lieutenant from the Public Information Office after many years working as a firefighter and Shift Lieutenant and then later for Kaiser Permanente, also of Fairfax, Va.

After his move to Vero Beach, Timmons enjoyed his work with Dr. Marc Lieberman’s office, which he did for seven years.

He was a kind and gentle individual with an amazing sense of humor. He was a devoted father and a great lover of animals, especially of his dogs, Dorphus, Dana and Roger, and many cats, including Chumlee and Tuffie.

Timmons had a golf handicap of six and played with a team at Sandridge Golf Club, Vero Beach.

He could do just about anything he set his mind to. He could fix anything and it was always done “to code.” He could also always find anything that had been lost, earning him the nickname of “The Bloodhound.” We shall continue to invoke The Bloodhound even though he is no longer here with us!

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Dec. 6, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Avenue, Vero Beach. To honor Timmons’ life and devotion to the Army, a 21-gun salute will be held. A reception will follow in the church parish hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, 475 43rd Ave, Vero Beach, FL 32968 or to VNA Hospice. Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home of Vero Beach is entrusted with arrangements, www.lowtherfuneralhome.com.
