INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Education Foundation of Indian River County has so much to be thankful for: enrichment through the annual Science Fair and Classroom Grants, Innovation through Technology Grants, and for the opportunity of students to attend college with Science Fair Scholarships.
The Education Foundation has decided to join the nationwide “Giving Tuesday” (#GivingTuesday) movement, an effort to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.
Taking place on Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday is a way for people to come together to celebrate the great American tradition of giving. Giving Tuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national moment around the holidays, dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are synonymous with holiday shopping.
The Foundation hopes the community will join in as it participates in its first ever effort to inspire friends and donors. The Foundation is thrilled to have a $10,000 match beginning te campaign.
Please visit the Education Foundation’s website and click on the #GivingTuesday logo to make a donation. Follow the Foundation on Twitter and Facebook to read what board members and volunteers are thankful for.
The Education Foundation of Indian River County exists to fulfill unmet funding gaps. For more than 23 years, program services have been focused on enriching and enhancing educational opportunities for all students and teachers, both public and private, through effective fundraising and efficient allocation of resources.
The Foundation operates both as a funding source and as a service provider for the school community. It works with the school system to develop, evaluate and secure funding for new, innovative projects, generated both by the system itself and by community organizations.
In addition, the Foundation seeks to support the students’ opportunities to achieve school success and to develop the skills needed to meet the challenges of higher education and the pursuit of vocational interests.
The Education Foundation is one of only ten education foundations in the State of Florida to serve both public and private school students. This unique structure, as an independent 501c3, allows the organization to direct funding where it is needed most to build a better community. This ensures educational opportunities for every Pre-K through 12th grade student in Indian River County.
