ELC announces Ecology Adventure schedule

SEBASTIAN — The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) announced its Ecology Adventure schedule for the 2014/15 season.

The schedule includes hundreds of programs for all ages and abilities on or near the 64-acre Wabasso Island campus. The campus features aquariums, hands-on exhibits, native plant gardens, elevated boardwalks and picnic facilities in addition to a touch tank, nature trail, canoe launch area, and gift shop.

There are canoe, kayak and pontoon boat excursions around Wabasso Island, to Pelican Island and on the St. Sebastian River. Many special events are scheduled throughout the season.

The purpose of these programs is to provide a stimulating and fun experience that will instill an understanding of the natural world, enrich people’s lives, and inspire participants to be active stewards of the surrounding natural resources, particularly the Indian River Lagoon.

The Environmental Learning Center is located north of Vero Beach off County Road 510 at the western end of the Wabasso Bridge. A schedule for the ELC’s programs may be found at www.DiscoverELC.org. Questions can be answered and reservations for events may be made by calling the ELC at (772)-589-5050. Admission is $5 per person, children 12 and under free. ELC members receive free admission year-round. The first Saturday of every month is free to all.
