SEBASTIAN — Councilman Richard Gillmor is Sebastian’s new mayor, chosen by fellow Council members in a 4-1 vote Nov. 19.
Gillmor had occupied the center seat on the dais before between 2008-2010.
In the closest thing to a surprise following the no-real-surprises City Council election, Jerome Adams was picked as Vice-Mayor with a vote of 4-1. Adams was recently re-elected to his second term.
Councilwoman Andrea Coy had nominated Bob McPartlan for both spots. McPartlan is the most recent mayor.
With no new faces on the new Council, McPartlan and Gillmor simply switched chairs.
At the first Council meeting of the new term, re-elected Council incumbents Adams and Jim Hill were sworn in by City Clerk Sally Maio.
Adams’ 12-year-old son, Dominic Adams, stood proudly by his father’s side holding the Bible as his dad took the oath of office.
Wasting no time, the Sebastian City Council dove into a 4-page agenda, which kept them in their chairs until close to 10 p.m.
