Loretta Rainey, 86, of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 15, 2014.
She is survived by her daughters, Susie Bachmann of Vero Beach, Maureen Davis of Clearwater, Fla., Kathy (Jim) Dahl of Tallahassee; two son-in-laws, Jim Gundry of Clearwater, Fla., and Richard Bachmann of Vero Beach; sister, Frances (Nick) Genaga of Massapequa Park, N.Y.; brother-in-law, Edward Rainey of Orlando; sister-in-law, Muriel Connerton of Naples, Fla.; five granddaughters, Kristine Ramirez of Port St. Lucie, Jennifer (Bill) Nobles of Palm Harbor, Fla., Michele Bachmann of Clearwater, Fla., Joanna Davis of Howard Beach, N.Y., Rainey Lancaster of Tallahassee; three grandsons, Christopher Davis of Seattle, Wash., Chad Lancaster of San Francisco, Calif., Chase Lancaster of New York, N.Y.; great-grandson, Ryan Ramirez of Port St. Lucie; step-grandchildren, James A. Dahl of Los Angeles, Calif., Kate Dahl of New York, N.Y., Billy Nobles, III of Palm Harbor, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard Rainey and sister Peggy Conway.
Rainey was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and has been a resident of Vero Beach for the past 10 years, coming from Melbourne, Fla., previous to that Miami and New York.
She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her husband of 53 years, Richard. They both had a passion for travel, dancing and embracing life together. As a child growing up in New York she was an avid horsewoman. At an early age, she met the love of her life, Richard, married and started their family.
In 1957, they moved with their two daughters to Miami. Soon after, another daughter arrived. They spent their next years developing several businesses and raising their family. After retiring, they moved to Melbourne and ultimately to Vero Beach, where she lived for 10 years.
Rainey was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. Entombment will follow at Fountainhead Memorial Park, Palm Bay.
