INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — With unanimous votes of the five commissioners Tuesday morning, Wesley Davis was selected by his peers as Chairman and Bob Solari was selected Vice Chairman of the Indian River Board of County Commissioners for the coming year.
County Judge Joe Wild handled the swearing in of commissioners Joe Flescher and Peter O’Bryan, who both retained their seats in the 2014 election cycle.
Davis, who was promoted from the Vice Chair spot, took over from O’Bryan, who has chaired the Board for the past year.
Davis thanked his fellow commissioners and expressed his appreciation to O’Bryan for his service, which Davis described as “a job second to none.”
Both Solari and Commissioner Tim Zorc were nominated for Vice Chair, but Solari was voted upon first and received support from the entire Board.
The chairman and vice chairman positions are mostly honorary, though the chairman does run the business meetings. Davis, an auctioneer by trade, in the past has run efficient meetings, yet also allowed ample public comment.
Solari is serving his second term on the Board representing the City of Vero Beach, the south barrier island and Indian River Shores, and Davis is serving his third term representing the City of Fellsmere, a portion of the City of Sebastian and parts of unincorporated northwest Indian River County.
Solari, Davis and Zorc will be up for re-election in 2016.
