John Cleveland Allen, 86, of Sebastian, passed away on Nov. 12, 2014, at his residence.
He is survived by his wife Lenora Bernice Allen; daughters, Sandra Irene Pulliam (David) and Shirley Mae Wallace; and sons, John Cleveland Allen, Jr. and David Louis Allen; grandsons John, Edward, and Paul Irizarry and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Richard and Tommy Allen.
He was born in Jackson, Tenn., and lived in Vero Beach and Sebastian for most of his life.
He was a US Navy veteran after enlisting at 16 years old.
He retired as Fire Chief for South Indian River County Fire District where he was instrumental in starting the union of which he was President for the first four years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 39, Vero Beach, and VFW Post #10210, Sebastian.
