INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Join Homeless Family Center (HFC) for its Open House Wednesday, Nov. 19, 4 to 7 p.m., at its campus and thrift store, 720 4th Street and 490 Old Dixie Highway, Vero Beach.
HFC campus and A Second Chance Thrift Store and Training Center (ASC) have many exciting happenings taking place and are thrilled to share them with the community during this important time of the year, National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov. 16-22.
The Open House kicks off with celebrations and activities for the entire family. Local dignitaries will be present during the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Education Center and to celebrate the many improvements and additions to HFC.
Supporters and staff of HFC have been busy with many projects including the remodeling of the facility and the expansion of the thrift store, which opened in 2012 and has been a popular spot for shoppers and people who want to donate as well as a training resource for the residents.
There will be face painting, information booths, balloons, games, hotdogs, popcorn, an ice cream truck and much more. It will be a great day for HFC to show the public the wonderful changes taking place while expressing appreciation for the dedication, support and commitment of community members and bringing awareness to the many homeless and hungry individuals in the country as well as the community.
HFC, a United Way Agency, provides opportunities for homeless families to end homelessness by achieving self-sufficiency through education, living wages and permanent housing. HFC provides the tools to empower residents by helping them to identify and resolve their problems, find better jobs, and ultimately move into homes where they can become contributing members of our community. HFC also has A Second Chance Thrift Store and Training Center (ASC) located at 490 Old Dixie Highway, Vero Beach. Donations are accepted year round. Merchandise pick-up is available.
Individuals interested in donating to the thrift store, volunteering or touring HFC may call (772)-567-5537 or visit www.homelessfamilycenter.com.
