UPDATE: Vero home invasion victim sexually assaulted

VERO BEACH — More details in the Nov. 8 armed home invasion at the Plum Hollow Apartments, at 1850 40th Avenue, have been released.

After the assailant forced the victim into her closet, he made her take off her clothes at gunpoint and then sexually assaulted her, according to the Vero Beach Police Department.

The person police are looking for is said to be in his 20s.

The victim told authorities she opened the door to who she thought was a tenant dropping off rent.

During the crime, around $50 was taken as well as a money order for $25.


Nov. 10, 3:34 p.m.

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach Police Department is searching for a person who was involved in an armed home invasion robbery that happened Nov. 8, according to authorities.

Approximately 6:50 p.m. Nov. 8, police responded to the 1800 block of 40th Avenue in reference to an armed home invasion robbery, according to police.

Upon arrival, the officers were advised by the victim that earlier in the evening she heard a soft knock on the door of her apartment. When she opened the door she observed a black male pointing a silver semi-automatic handgun at her.

The victim described the black male to be approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark clothing, tan latex gloves, and a stocking on his head.

The suspect forcefully turned the victim around, pointed the gun at the back of her head, and entered the residence. The male proceeded to demand money from the victim, which she provided, police said.

The suspect then forced the victim inside her bedroom closet and instructed her to stay there for five minutes. Upon exiting her closet a short while later, the victim noticed several other items were stolen from her apartment.
