Herschel Thomas “Sonny” Dean, Jr., 78, formerly of Vero Beach, passed away on Nov. 2, 2014, at his residence in Marianna.
He is survived by his wife Samantha Ann Dean; three sons, Michael Thomas Dean, James Redfern Dean, and Russell Alan Dean; daughter, Regina Ann Burdock; sister, Judy Revell; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Dean was born in Quincy, Fla., to Herschel T. Dean and Bernice Rudd on March 17, 1936.
He served in the US Navy for four years, worked with the Gulf County Sheriff’s Department, for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, for the City of Marianna, and for Indian River County. Dean most recently worked for Communications International in Vero Beach where he retired and moved back to Marianna. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Funeral services were Monday, Nov. 3, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marianna. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery located in Marianna.
