DAY 2: Clambake Festival – Hoping for dry weather

SEBASTIAN — Ominous clouds moved in around 1 p.m. as the Sebastian Clambake Festival was already in full swing.

“We can deal with heat or cold, but we can’t deal with rain,” said organizer Anjani Cirillo.

The clouds, however, did not stop festival-goers’ voracious appetite for clams. Be it steamed, fried, in chowder or with linguini, people who attended got their fill and more.

“These are awesome,” said Chris Fredericks of the steamed clams. “We’re from New England, so we know,” as he shared a basket with Stacey Fredericks.

About one and a half dozen come in the steamed clams basket.

“We want the customer to be happy,” said volunteer Marc DePompignan.

The festival continues through 9 p.m. tonight, and runs 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
