GIFFORD — A Gifford man is under arrest, accused of trafficking drugs and having a stolen gun after the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Criminal Enforcement Unit executed a search of a home in the 3800 block of 44th Avenue in Gifford.

On Nov. 5, detectives with the M.A.C.E. Unit executed a search after the Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T.) Team made entry into the residence where they located and secured Paul Dawson, 40, without incident.

During the search, detectives located and seized a loaded Glock 10mm handgun, a loaded Glock .40 handgun, 192 oxycodone pills, 78 hydromorphone pills, 29 grams of amphetamine, 31 grams of crack cocaine, 8 suboxone strips, more than a pound of high grade marijuana, and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia including digital scales and baggies, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The M.A.C.E. Unit is committed to shutting down drug dealers in our community. The street value of the narcotics we seized in this case was at least $13,000,” said M.A.C.E. Sgt. Anthony Civita stated. “We will keep hitting them hard.”

Detectives have since learned that the seized .40 Glock was reported stolen in 2008 from a residence in Indian River County.

Authorities said that detectives will continue follow the trail of the stolen gun back to its owner.

Paul Dawson was arrested and faces charges including two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of stolen property, three counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to authorities.
