Anthony J. Bonvetti, Sr., 87, Vero Beach

Anthony J. “Duke” Bonvetti, Sr., 87, of Vero Beach, passed away on Oct. 27, 2014, at his home in Vero Beach.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Theresa M. (nee O’Brien) Bonvetti; five children, Kathleen Hartman (Dennis), Marie Grieves (Philip), Anthony J. Bonvetti, Jr. (Vicki), Angeline Bonvetti, and Joseph Bonvetti (Tracie); 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and his younger brother, Dominic Bonvetti.

Bonvetti was born May 9, 1927, in Wilmington. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, and then enjoyed a long career as a carpenter and custom home builder.

He was a longtime member of The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and was a Past Exalted Ruler, named Elk of the Year in 1991/1992 at Lodge 307 in Wilmington, Del. He was also a former member of the John Basilone Lodge of the Order of the Sons of Italy.

Bonvetti will be interned at Cathedral Cemetery in Wilmington, Del., on Nov. 3. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to VNA Hospice 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL. 32960.
