Quarterly HETY Award Goes to the Hibiscus Children’s Center

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The HETY (Helping Equip Today’s Youth) Award was founded by Girard Equipment in 2012 to benefit youth organizations and clubs in Indian River County. Each quarter, the Girard Equipment Awards Committee votes and awards a different group with a $1,000 donation to benefit their organization.

Recently, Girard Equipment partnered with Leisure Square to provide another benefit to HETY Award winners. Each quarter, Leisure Square will host an outing at their facility for the winner.

The 2014 3rd Quarter HETY Award has been granted to the Hibiscus Children’s Center, located in Vero Beach. Their mission is to maintain a safe shelter for children who are abused, abandoned, and neglected by providing prevention, residential, assessment, and recovery programs.

In addition, the center helps prepare children for their future through educational and career readiness programs. Their Career Pathways to Independence Program partners with area businesses, providing career services, training, and preparatory employment to village residents to help them transition to independent living.

Hibiscus Children’s Center will be holding their annual Dazzling Masquerade Ball on Saturday, Dec. 6, at The Moorings Club in Vero Beach. Guests at the gala will enjoy a cocktail hour, elegant gourmet dinner, live entertainment, dancing, and premier live and silent auctions.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Hibiscus Children’s Village.
