INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Every year, thousands of students looking for financial assistance to help them better afford a college education benefit from scholarships provided through the Indian River State College Foundation. Last year, nearly 2,600 students were awarded $2.7 million in scholarships to help them further their educational goals.
The scholarship application period for new and returning students for the 2015-16 school year is now underway. The deadline to apply for scholarships is Jan. 15, 2015. With hundreds of unique scholarships to apply for, every IRSC student should take the time to see what scholarships may be available to them through the IRSC Foundation.
There are many opportunities to qualify for a scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on career interests, academic achievement, organizational affiliation, county of residence and other criteria. Information and scholarship applications are available online at www.irscfoundation.org.
In addition, IRSC students who plan to graduate December 2014, or May, June or August 2015, with plans to continue their education at a university may be eligible for transfer scholarships. Applications for transfer scholarships are also now being accepted with a Jan. 15, 2015 deadline to apply.
