Cultural Council hosts Treasure Coast Bird and Nature Art Show Oct. 17-19

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The third annual Treasure Coast Bird and Nature Juried Art Show is coming up Oct. 17-19 at the Women’s Club in Vero Beach, hosted by the Cultural Council of Indian River County.

Artists can enter in three categories: 2-dimensional, 3-dimensional or photography. Each artist can enter four pieces or groups. Each entry is $15. There will be ribbons and prizes awarded at the artists’ reception Friday night between 5-7 p.m.

Three judges include Martha Cross, Bob Barbour, and Ginny Piech Street.

Cross is the art teacher at John Carroll High School. She is one of three artists working in The Merry Potters Studio at the Art Bank. Cross graduated with an art degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Barbour specializes in interior photography for those whose work, products, or talents deal with interiors. He offers fine art photography and architectural photographic services for designers, construction professionals, architects, and hospitality businesses including hotels, restaurants, and offices. He also handles advertising, commercial or editorial emphasizing interior products.

Street grew up in Indiana and earned a BFA at Murray State University in Kentucky. From there she lived in the South Carolina Low Country and tropical, festive Key West. Each of these places has influenced her art perspective.

The show hours are Friday 5-8 p.m., Sat 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sun 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

There will be two birding tours on Saturday leaving the Women’s Club. One led by Patrick Pitts to the West Regional Wastewater Treatment wetlands at 7 a.m. with a cost of $25 per person and one led by David Simpson to Captain Foresters Hammock at 7:30 a.m. with a cost of $40 per person.

At 7 p.m. there will be a presentation by Audubon’s Bob Montanaro, the cost is $5 per person to attend. On Sunday, David Simpson will lead a tour to Pelican Island Wildlife Refuge, cost $35 per person and leaves at 7:30 a.m.
