Rotary Vero Beach Oceanside installs new officers, directors, members

VERO BEACH — The Rotary Club of Vero Beach Oceanside recently installed its Officers and Directors for the 2014-2015 Rotary year beginning July 1, 2014.

The installation ceremony, held at the Indian River Shores Town Hall Community Center, was officiated by Rotary International District Governor 6930 Dr. Juan F. Ortega. Calling on each club member to take action on Rotary International’s annual theme this year to “Light Up Rotary,” he encouraged everyone to light a candle to make the world a better place and to make Rotary stronger.

Governor Ortega then swore in Clair Brunetti – President, Michael Kissner – President-Elect and Vice President, Noel Hoover – Treasurer, Elaine Jones – Secretary, Paul Seldes – Immediate Past President, Sergeant-At-Arms – Frank Baudo, and Directors – Ed Smith and Taner Kizar.

Committee chairs for the Rotary year include Tammy Adams – Public Relations chair, Maureen Labadie – Rotary International Foundation chair, and Karl Steene – Membership and Speakers Co-chair with Paul Seldes, Maureen Labadie – Foundation Chair, and Tammy Adams – Public Relations.Karl Steene – Membership chair and Speakers Co-chair with Immediate Past President Paul Seldes.

As her first order of business, President Brunetti installed new members Vicki Soule’, CEO of Treasure Coast Community Health, sponsored by Karl Steene and Marsha Brizzie, a local design consultant, sponsored by Maureen Labadie.

Special guests attending were: John Carroll – Assistant District Governor for Vero Beach, Tracy Carroll – District Youth Services Chair, Brian Carmen – President Vero Beach Sunrise Rotary Club, Burney Carter – Immediate Past President Sebastian Rotary Club, Daniel Fourmont – Immediate Past Assistant District Governor Vero Beach, Devon Steele – District Rotaract Chair, tennis legend Roscoe Tanner, and Paul Tripaldi – President Vero Beach Rotary Club.

Since being chartered in March 2009, the Rotary Club of Vero Beach Oceanside (RVBO) has positively impacted the local community by dedicating hundreds of volunteer hours and over $15,000 in cash or donations to local charitable organizations including: A Florida Outdoor Center, American Cancer Society Relay for Life of the Beaches, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Camp Haven, City of Vero Beach, Central Florida Animal Refuge (CFAR), Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center, Environmental Learning Center, Gifford Youth Activity Center, Gifford Youth Orchestra, Harvest Food & Outreach, Hibiscus Children’s Center, Indian River County Library, Indian River Medical Center, Literacy Services of Indian River County, Mother Ocean, Redland’s Christian Migrant Association, Rotary Group Exchange, Rotary Youth Exchange, SafeSpace, Salvation Army, The Samaritan Center, Sebastian River High School, Shining Light Garden Project, SunUp/ARC, Town of Indian River Shores, and Youth Guidance.

Additionally, on a national and international level, RVBO members have positively impacted the First Book Program, Global Citizen Campaign to End Extreme Poverty, Haiti Earthquake Relief Efforts, Josh the Otter Water Safety Program, Stop Hunger Now, The Rotary Foundation (TRF), Vanuatu Literacy Project, and TRF PolioPlus Campaign.

The Rotary Club of Vero Beach Oceanside meets every Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Indian River Shores Town Hall Community Room located at 6001 N. A1A & Fred Tuerk Drive in Vero Beach.

It is one of five clubs located within Indian River County and more than 34,400 Rotary clubs around the globe. The Rotary Club of Vero Beach Oceanside Foundation is the 501(c)3 non-profit arm of the club providing donations to local worthwhile charities.
