INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Eighty-Second Avenue north of State Road 60 will remain shut down for the next couple hours as Indian River Fire Rescue continues to monitor the scene of a manufactured home fire in the Ranchland Mobile Home Park west of Vero Beach.
The fire broke out inside the home shortly before 1 p.m., destroying the home. The owner, identified only as a woman, and her dog were able to escape the home. Her cat, however, remains unaccounted for.
American Red Cross has been notified and will be providing assistance for the woman, according to Indian River Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Cory Richter.
He said the home is a total loss with a mere quarter of the home still standing.
“It was cooking pretty good,” Richter said of the blaze.
Four engines and two ambulances responded, including a battalion chief, totaling 18 emergency responders.
Richter said the cause and origin of the fire have not yet been determined and that the State Fire Marshal is en route to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
