William Henry Neff, 78, of Bolivia, N.C., formerly of Vero Beach, passed away on Oct. 1, 2014.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Pat Neff; daughter Darby Neff-Verre and fiancée Steven Legge; son William H. Neff III (Susan); daughter Christina Neff; grandchildren Amelia Neff, Dashiell Neff, and Aidan Verre; and a special cousin, Cynthia Scherr.
Born in York, Penn., on Feb. 2, 1936, he was the son of the late William H. Neff, Sr. and Bertha Eda Fetrow Neff.
Neff was a US Air Force veteran, acting as a JAG Legal Officer. He practiced his entire civilian law career with Stock and Leader law firm in York, Penn., and served as Assistant District Attorney for York County.
He enjoyed the ocean, sailing on the Chesapeake Bay, skiing all over the world, and tennis and golf with his family and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6, in St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church, Shallotte, N.C. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
