INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Beachside half marathon, pre-registration dinner, kids run and toddler dash to benefit the Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition (IRCHSC) kicks off Friday, Oct. 10.
Festivities begin on Friday, Oct. 10 from 5-8 p.m. with pre-registration and a “Pasta Rasta” dinner at Springhill Suites by Marriot.
Race day begins early on Saturday, Oct. 11, at 3001 Riverside Park Drive in Vero Beach, with a USTAF Certified Course through Vero’s beautiful Oceanside. Registration opens at 6 a.m. and the half marathon will begin at 7 a.m. The kids run and toddler dash will begin at approximately 9:45 a.m.
The IRCHSC offers intensive prenatal education, one on one assistance, classes and moms groups addressing parenting, nutrition, post-partum depression, pregnancy, breastfeeding, infant safety, Lamaze, and child development.
Last year, the Healthy Start Coalition provided 527 prenatal mothers in Indian River County with 1,982 hours of one on one support, spent over 500 hours connecting mothers to other community resources, and saw 86 percent of participating families improve or maintain financial self-sufficiency.
The money raised from the day’s events will allow the IRCHSC to continue offering these services to pregnant moms, babies and their families as well as performing outreach and education throughout Indian River County.
