VERO BEACH — The highly anticipated Vero Beach Fort Pierce Central game was suspended due to weather conditions with 1:37 to play in the first quarter.
Vero Beach received the opening kickoff and scored first on a 33 yard Arron Kuh field goal with 9:49 left in the first quarter. Fort Pierce Central punted on their first possession and pinned Vero Beach on their own one yard line. Quarterback Carter Stanley threw the first of two interceptions to Cobra defenseman Antoine Wallace. Wallace raced to the end zone for a pick six that put Fort Pierce Central in front 7-3 with 7:09 remaining in the first. Stanley threw his second interception eight seconds later and that set up a Cobra field goal and increased their lead to 10 – 3.
There were two more lightning delays before the game was eventually cancelled and rescheduled for Monday night at the Citrus Bowl.
