Donald Ryan, of Islip, N.Y. and Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Sept. 30, 2014, surrounded by his family.
He was a graduate of Chaminade H.S., and Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy.
He was a successful oil tanker broker.
Ryan was the beloved husband of Patricia Ryan (nee Lynch) for 62 years. He was the loyal brother of Michael, devoted father of Charles, Maryellen (John) DiCioccio, Carol (Anthony) Borruso, and Donald Jr. (Lello). He was the cherished grandfather of Christopher, Beth, John Ryan, Michael, Katie, Barbara, Cathy, Kathryn, Gabby, and Donald III. He was great-grandfather to Dylan.
Ryan enjoyed golfing, boating, and fishing.
Reposing will take place at the Fredrick J. Chapey and Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy.
Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial will take place at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Bay Shore, LI, Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Cremation will follow privately.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Donald’s loving memory to VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach, 901 37th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960. Visiting Friday, 6 p.m.- 9 p.m.
