INDIAN RIVER COUNTY –Multiple crashes on northbound Interstate 95 have shutdown a portion of the highway between Vero Beach and Fellsmere/Sebastian.
At least one crash involves multiple semi-tractors. One of the vehicles is leaking, according to law enforcement, though the leaking substance was not immediately identified.
Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Eric Flowers said a helicopter was being dispatched to the highway to help assess the situation. He added that weather was most likely a contributing factor for the multiple collisions on the interstate.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid traveling northbound on I-95 between Vero Beach and Fellsmere/Sebastian for the time being. Instead, drivers can take 58th Avenue, US 1 or other routes.
