Sebastian Crossings home offers great, easy lifestyle indoors and out

After weekdays toiling away at work and at school, Saturdays spent at kids’ sporting events, club activities, social outings, shopping or on home improvement projects, Sunday should be a day of rest, but many homeowners moonlight as landscape maintenance workers on their one day off.

Sebastian Crossings has all that hard work figured out so by the time the weekend rolls around, residents can enjoy their days off or their retirement – and sell the riding lawnmower. Maintenance fees of $279 per quarter cover all lawn and tree maintenance, plus irrigation and upkeep of the community’s common areas, sidewalks, signs and security gates.

Easy living for the snowbird, the traveling businessperson or the over-scheduled family is one of the reasons why Sebastian Crossings is selling out quickly, but homes are still available. A former model home on a nice corner lot was just put on the market last week for less than $200,000.

This four-bedroom, single-story Burgoon Berger house spans 2,276 square feet with an innovative floor plan that offers a great deal of versatility and storage space. The open kitchen and family room create a wonderful hub for loved ones to come together, while the fourth bedroom just off the entrance, the separate living-dining area and the private master suite at the back of the home provide even a large family with enough distinct space to work, play, watch movies or entertain.

Listing agent Sherry Carrigan, a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Ed Schlitt Realtors, said she thinks the great room formed by the kitchen and family room under nine-foot ceilings and crown moldings is one of the best features of the property, which sits on slightly less than a quarter-acre corner lot and is listed for $199,900.

This concrete block home was constructed in 2006 as a builder model and designed to show off all the many upgrades that were possible in the home. Luxury features include 42-inch kitchen cabinets finished in a beautiful antique cream color with earth-toned accents and coordinating Corian countertops and backsplashes that are flecked like the decorator granite versions. All that would be needed to fully update this kitchen would be some stainless steel appliances to coordinate with the brushed nickel knobs and fixtures.

One other attractive feature is the easy-care flooring, designed for quick clean-up with a sweep or a quick run of the vacuum.

“Definitely the hardwood floors and the tile, the wide-board wood floors are a plus,” Carrigan said.

The home is very practically laid out, with the kitchen, two-car garage, utility room with full-size washer and dryer and large double pantry all in close proximity. A handy desk just off the kitchen can be used as a bar, or as a computer station for doing homework, multi-tasking or even looking up recipes. The home is equipped with a stereo and intercom system to keep in touch.

Three of the bedrooms are on the west side of the home, but not off the same hallway, and the fourth or bonus bedroom is bright and cheery with a large window on the front of the home and would make an ideal den or study. Add a sleeper sofa and it doubles as a guest room.

The master suite has a large walk-in closet with doors off the bedroom and the master bath. The bath has a tiled shower and his and hers vanities.

Though one might think a four-bedroom home of this size would sell to a family with kids, Carrigan said she sees a good number of recently transplanted retirees looking for more space than a cottage-style home or condo.

“A lot of people are moving from a 3,000 square foot home and they want space for family to come and visit and a this size home tends to serve well for all their existing furniture,” she said.

Outdoors, the home is buffered from the nearest neighbor in the back with a lovely landscaped island with paver-block border. Hedges on the side are neatly trimmed, mulched and have a matching paver-block border that coordinates with the wide driveway leading to the garage. Inside the garage are lots of finished cabinets large enough to hold tools or hobby supplies. Hurricane panels have been cut to fit the home and the hardware has been installed and tastefully painted to blend with the home’s exterior.
