Voter registration deadline Oct. 6 for November election

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan reminds residents of Indian River County that Monday, Oct. 6 is the voter registration deadline for the Nov. 4, 2014 General Election. Florida law mandates that the voter registration books close 29 days prior to any election.

For new voters, registration is required by this deadline in order to participate in the upcoming General Election. Those who are already registered to vote do not need to re-register.

Indian River County residents may register to vote at the Supervisor of Elections office, or any public library, Tax Collector’s office or government office handling social services.

If you are unsure of your voter registration status, visit VoteIndianRiver.com and click “Am I Registered?” On the website, a voter can find out if they are registered to vote in Indian River County. They may also verify their address of record, party affiliation, polling location information and voting districts. Voters can even view a picture of their Election Day polling site and driving directions furnished by Google Maps.

To request an absentee ballot, visit VoteIndianRiver.com or call the Elections office at 226-3440. By selecting the “Track My Absentee Ballot” feature on the homepage of the supervisor of elections website, voters can verify the date the ballot was mailed and the date the voted ballot was received back at the Elections Office.
