Retired NYC Firefighter and Vietnam Veteran Bill Stelz, 68, of Vero Beach passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, with his wife, Pat; his son, Matt; and his sister Pat and brother-in-law Ted Rice.
Bill was an adoring husband, proud father and true American Patriot who participated in the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3918 color guard in Indian River County for many events over the years since he moved here from New York in 2004.
After serving in Vietnam, a time his friends heard him refer to many times as “My Senior Class Trip”, Bill was a member of the FDNY for 25 years serving in the Bronx.
Other survivors are his brother Jerry (Barbara); daughter Jennifer (Tim) Cassidy, their two children, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sept. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in Vero Beach.
A celebration of Life will be held following Sept. 30 services at the Elks Club on 26th Street in Vero Beach.
