INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Multiple engines with 35 fire fighters responded to a house fire near the west side of the Wabasso Causeway, according to authorities.
The American Red Cross responded with a team to 9000 44th Ave. Saturday afternoon, which is just north of the Wabasso Causeway on the mainland.
A Red Cross representative said the house appeared to be a total loss and they are assisting the family with a place to stay and replacement food and clothing.
A “fireball” was reported being seen by a witness, saying it looked like an “atomic bomb.”
The house was connected to propane, according to authorities. Fire crews remain on scene to monitor the site.
