Laura F. Lindsey, 87, Vero Beach

Laura Frances Lindsey, 87, a lifelong resident of Vero Beach, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at her home. Laura was born Sept. 17, 1926, to the late Wiley and Fannie (nee Croft) Cox.

A graduate of Vero Beach High School, Laura met her husband to be, Ralph J. Lindsey, while she was working at Naval Air Station Vero Beach during World War II.

Ralph was in Vero as part of his Naval training. Their marriage was blessed to span 64 years until his death in 2010.

Laura had owned and operated a preschool in the early days of her marriage before she went to work as a bookkeeper at the law firm of Mitchell, Smith and Mitchell in Vero Beach.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and served as the pianist for one of the Junior High Sunday School Classes for many years as well as any civic group that might need her skills.

Laura was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Survivors include her son, Bobby J. Lindsey; her daughters, Patricia L. Hayes and Jean Lindsey; her grandchildren, Robb Linsdsey, Julie Kastensmidt, Ralna Reel, Craig Hayes, Brian Hayes, Laura Sadler, Ross Partee; 18 great-grandchildren; and her dog, Honey, who was always at her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph J. Lindsey, and a sister, Clemmie Louise Tripp.

A Life Celebration Memorial Service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, at the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach. A reception will follow at the Family Life Center at the church. Laura will be laid to rest with her husband at Winter Beach Cemetery in Winter Beach.
