William J. Elliott, 95, of Vero Beach, passed away on Aug. 8, 2014, at his home in Vero Beach.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Frances Long Elliott; three children, Sally VanderLeest (Terry), W. Joseph Elliott, Jr. (Marilee), and Glenn Elliott; and five grandchildren.
Elliott was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Ware, Mass., to William John and Ellen (Woodlock) Elliott. He moved to Vero Beach from Longmeadow, Mass., in 1981 after retiring from Milton Bradley (now Hasbro).
He graduated from American International College with a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Chemistry. He served in the Army during WWII and then returned to Massachusetts to work as a research chemist for Bigelow Sanford Carpet Co. and then Milton Bradley Co. until his retirement in 1981.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Sept. 16, 12 p.m. at St. Helen Catholic Church.
