UPDATED: Student, 9, Baker Acted after making threats with knife

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 9-year-old student brought a butcher knife to Citrus Elementary School to hurt himself and another, according to authorities.

The knife was taken away from the student almost immediately, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. The child was taken into custody under the Baker Act for mental health reasons.

Law enforcement was dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to the school.
