November’s Walk To Remember kicks off Sept. 11

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Alzheimer and Parkinson Association of Indian River County is holding its 11th annual Walk To Remember on Saturday Nov. 8.

Eileen O’ Donnell and Tiffany Tripson are chairing this year’s event and they will host a Meet and Greet Open House called Wind Up Thursday on Sept. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Alzheimer and Parkinson Association Memory and Movement Center.

Wind Up Thursday is an opportunity to get energized about the Walk To Remember Fundraiser, share ideas on how to raise money, socialize, enjoy appetizers and drinks and meet fellow participants.

There are several ways to participate and support Walk To Remember. Corporate and Individual Sponsorships are available beginning at $100. Businesses can encourage their employees to form a team for the walk and groups of friends or neighborhoods can join together to make their own teams.

It is not necessary to be on a team to participate in the walk; individuals are welcome.

The day of the event, registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and walkers take off at 8:30 a.m. around the course at Riverside Park.

This is a family friendly activity and there will be children’s activities and refreshments for everyone at the Walk. The top three Walk To Remember fundraising teams and the team with the most walking team members will be recognized.

Teams are encouraged to create their own T-shirts to identify themselves with their company or group.

The Alzheimer and Parkinson Association is also giving an award for the team exhibiting the most “Team Spirit.”

The Alzheimer and Parkinson Association of Indian River County is an independent non-profit and not affiliated with any national organizations. Local residents are served with Support Groups, Community Education and Training, Respite Care, Memory Screening, Art Programs, Parkinson’s Exercise and Tremble Clef Singing Classes.

All funds raised from the November Walk To Remember stay in Indian River County to provide services to community residents.
