Dave Moberg receives 2014 IRSC Department Chair of Excellence Award

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River State College Professor David Moberg, Chair of the Performing and Visual Arts Department, was presented with the 2014 Anne R. Snyder Department Chair Excellence Award by IRSC President Dr. Edwin Massey.

Moberg has served as the IRSC Performing and Visual Arts Department Chair for 18 years.

“Dave is a mentor to students, encouraging their endeavors daily,” said IRSC President Dr. Edwin Massey. “One of his greatest qualities as chairman is his ability to develop personal relationships in our area high schools. His passion translates into students wanting to enroll here in order to develop their own talents.”

Moberg’s outstanding leadership has shaped the department into a regionally recognized program offering students an exceptional number of performance opportunities. Leadership Magazine honored the IRSC Performing and Visual Arts Department by naming it the most outstanding program in the State of Florida.

Moberg was also honored in 2009 by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in their National Playwright Program.

The Anne R. Snyder Department Chair Excellence Award is presented annually at the College’s Endowed Teaching Chair Faculty Meeting. IRSC faculty members submit nominations for department chairs who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, contributed toward the college mission, demonstrated educational innovation and commitment to student success.
