Philip Leroy Hall, 80, Vero Beach

Philip Leroy Hall, “Pop,” “Paw Paw,” “Farmer Hall,” 80, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully on Aug. 15, 2014, with family at his side.

He is survived by his sister Margaret Reid (Scott); brother Bobby Hall (Cleo); sons Greg Hall (Pat) and Gary Hall; daughter Karen Patton; stepdaughter Beverly Rimes (Steve); stepson Alan Sims (Jill); 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 50 years, Faustine “Jackie” Hall; sister Shirley Hall; and brother Billy Hall.

He was born on Sept. 22, 1933, in Weirsdale, Fla., to the late Leonard J. and Agnes D. Hall. After high school he served in the United States Navy. Having learned the craft of citrus budding at the knee of his father, it became a lifelong passion, both as a hobby and a good source of income. At one point he was considered the best budder in the state.

He was also an entrepreneur and owned his own businesses for many years, all while being the best “squawk” man at Piper Aircraft for many years. He was very good with his hands, building things he needed around his property. If he needed something that couldn’t be bought, he would just buy the needed material and build it himself.

He was very knowledgeable and a passionate vegetable gardener. He was a member of the Vero Beach Masonic Lodge and a Shriner
