Sheriff’s Association reappoints Sheriff Loar to accreditation board

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Earlier this month, the Florida Sheriff’s Association and the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation announced that Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar would be reappointed to his position on the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Board.

The Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Board is charged with setting standards and policies for law enforcement agencies across the state.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office is currently accredited through Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation in both law enforcement and corrections, and the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement (CALEA).

Accreditation increases the law enforcement agency’s ability to prevent and control crime through more effective and efficient delivery of law enforcement services to the community it serves, enhances community understanding of the law enforcement agency and its role in the community as well as its goals and objectives, and creates a forum in which police and citizens work together to control and prevent crime.

“I am honored to be reappointed to the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation Board,” Sheriff Deryl Loar said. “Accreditation is the backbone of our daily operations at the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. Ensuring high standards and policies for both the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office and other law enforcement agencies across the state is of the utmost importance to me.”
