VERO BEACH — The public is invited to attend the monthly meeting of the Indian River Bromeliad Society on Sept. 8. Meetings are held at the Garden Club of IRC, located at 252 17th Ave., Vero Beach. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m.
There will be plant sales, raffles, and refreshments.
The speaker is Dennis Cathcart, the “Indiana Jones” of the bromeliad world. Dennis is an internationally recognized collector, grower, and lecturer. He will speak on “New Explorations and Discoveries in Brazil, Part 2.”
His presentations are interesting and informative for both the novice and the expert. Dennis and his wife are the owners of Tropiflora Nursery in Sarasota, Fla. Their stock of exotic plants runs well over 7,000 varieties with an inventory of more than 1.5 million.
His plants will also be available for purchase.
