VERO BEACH — An elderly man riding an electric scooter has been transported to Holmes Regional for treatment after he was struck by a pickup truck while trying to cross State Road 60 in Vero Beach.
The man, who was not immediately identified, was attempting to cross State Road 60 in front of Horizon Bay, a senior home, near 27th Avenue, when the truck collided with him.
The driver of the truck was not immediately identified.
According to witnesses on the scene, a vehicle ahead of the truck swerved to avoid the elderly man.
